Kanipakam Varasiddhi Vinayaka Temple
The temple of Lord Vinayaka, known as Varasiddhi Vinayaka in Kanipakam, is considered a self-manifested deity. Even those who do not believe in oaths taken in the name of other gods, firmly believe when a person swears inside this temple. For generations, devotees have revered Lord Vinayaka here as the God of truth and witness. The temple is situated on the banks of the Bahuda River, where devotees of all religions worship him. Notably, even a large number of Muslims visit daily, symbolizing that God is one for all.
Temple Legend
Nearly 1,000 years ago, three differently-abled brothers (blind, mute, and deaf) lived in the village then called Viharapuri. During a severe drought, they attempted to deepen their well. While digging, their tool struck a rock, and to their astonishment, blood gushed out. As the blood touched them, their disabilities were cured. The villagers gathered and found the idol of Lord Vinayaka inside the well. They offered coconuts, and the water from them spread over one acre of land (“Kaani” in Telugu means acre). Hence, the village came to be known as “Kaniparakam,” later evolving into “Kanipakam.”
God of Truth
Devotees believe that anyone who lies in front of Lord Varasiddhi Vinayaka will be punished by him. Many who are addicted to bad habits (alcohol, vices) take oaths before the deity and are believed to be freed from them.
The Ever-Growing Idol
The idol of Vinayaka is said to be growing in size. Silver armor offered 50 years ago no longer fits. Even the one donated in 2002 is now too small, as the belly of the deity, once unseen, is now clearly visible.
Brahmotsavam
The grand annual Brahmotsavams begin on Vinayaka Chavithi and continue for 21 days. Lord Vinayaka is taken in procession on various vahanas such as Hamsa, Peacock, Mooshika, Sesha, Bull, Elephant, Horse, and more. Ratha Yatra, Pushpa Pallaki, and Teppotsavam are held with great devotion.
How to Reach?
Kanipakam is 12 km from Chittoor and 75 km from Tirupati. APSRTC buses and private vehicles connect the temple. The nearest airport is Tirupati, and the closest railway stations are Tirupati and Chittoor. Accommodation is available at the temple guesthouses and TTD-run facilities.
కాణిపాకం వరసిద్ధి వినాయకుడు
వక్రతుండ మహాకాయుడైన వినాయకుడు స్వయంభువుగా వెలసిన క్షేత్రం కాణిపాకం. ఏ దేవుడి మీద ఒట్టు వేసినా నమ్మనివారు కూడా ఇక్కడ ప్రమాణం చేస్తే నమ్ముతారు. భక్తులు తరతరాలుగా సత్య ప్రమాణాల దేవుడిగా పూజలు అందిస్తున్నారు. బహుదా నది ఒడ్డున ఉన్న ఈ ఆలయంలో అన్ని మతాలవారు స్వామిని పూజిస్తారు. ముఖ్యంగా నిత్యం వందలాది ముస్లింలు రావడం విశేషం. దేవుడు ఒక్కడే అన్న సాక్ష్యం ఇక్కడ కనిపిస్తుంది.
స్థలపురాణం
వెయ్యేళ్ల క్రితం విహారపురి గ్రామంలో ముగ్గురు గుడ్డి, మూగ, చెవిటి సోదరులు నివసించేవారు. కరవుతో బాధపడుతూ తమ బావిని మరింత తవ్వుతుండగా రాయి తగలడంతో రక్తం ప్రవహించింది. ఆ రక్తం వారిని తాకగానే వారి వైకల్యాలు తొలగిపోయాయి. గ్రామస్థులు పరిశీలించి బావిలో గణనాథుని రూపాన్ని కనుగొన్నారు. కొబ్బరికాయలు సమర్పించగా వాటి నీరు ఒక ఎకరం మేర వ్యాపించింది. అప్పటినుంచి ఆ గ్రామం “కాణిపాకం”గా ప్రసిద్ధి చెందింది.
ప్రమాణాల దేవుడు
స్వామివారి ఎదుట ఎవరైనా తప్పుడు ప్రమాణం చేస్తే శిక్ష తప్పదని భక్తుల నమ్మకం. వ్యసనాల నుంచి విముక్తి కోసం ప్రమాణం చేసే వారు విముక్తి పొందుతారని విశ్వాసం.
నిత్యం పెరుగుతున్న స్వామి
వరసిద్ధి వినాయకుడి విగ్రహం ప్రతీ ఏటా పెరుగుతున్నదని భావిస్తారు. యాభై ఏళ్ల క్రితం సమర్పించిన వెండి కవచం, 2002లో సమర్పించిన కవచం కూడా ఇప్పుడు సరిపోవడం లేదు.
బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలు
వినాయక చవితి నుండి ప్రారంభమయ్యే బ్రహ్మోత్సవాలు 21 రోజులపాటు జరుగుతాయి. హంస, నెమలి, మూషిక, గజ, అశ్వ, నంది వాహనాలపై స్వామివారిని ఊరేగిస్తారు. రథోత్సవం, పుష్పపల్లకీ, తెప్పోత్సవం ఘనంగా నిర్వహిస్తారు.
ఎలా వెళ్లాలి?
కాణిపాకం గ్రామం చిత్తూరు నుంచి 12 కి.మీ. దూరంలో, తిరుపతి నుంచి 75 కి.మీ. దూరంలో ఉంది. బస్సులు, ప్రైవేట్ వాహనాలు అందుబాటులో ఉన్నాయి. దగ్గరలోని విమానాశ్రయం తిరుపతి, రైల్వే స్టేషన్లు చిత్తూరు మరియు తిరుపతి. ఆలయ గదులు, తితిదే గదులు అందుబాటులో ఉన్నాయి.
