On 02-11-2025, around 11.00 A.M, one member from the Tree cutter team from Pekeru, died on the spot while cutting the one big branch of a tree near Principal room as he fallen onto the ground with his heart hitting the trunk of the branch. Immediately he was taken to Government General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Preliminary Investigation revealed that, he might have died due to heart failure.
On 03-11-2023, Principal T.A.Balaraju Swamy called and told me that he and superintendent Reyya Swamy contributing Rs50,000 each and asked me to collect some amount from the staff members of First year Engg. Department. On his instructions, I collected Rs6,000 from our Department and gave it to Principal. My contribution is Rs1,500.
Actually this pokeru team was arranged by college to cut some trees as they pose danger to buildings and also the after effects of montha cyclone with the agreement that, college will not pay any amount instead, they are free to take way the tree wood, which they agreed. They are doing the work with a team of around 3 to 4 workers for the last 3 days. But on the last day (i.e on Sunday), this incident happened. To my conscious, this is the first incident ever happened in our college premises. Even Malladi Krishna Rao, Ex-Minister was also involved not to make big issue and also to institution’s luck, the team members are very poor and are from pokeru, not from local area. Otherwise, it would have been sensationalised issue. It also came to know, that police questioned, whether Institution got the permission from Fire station, Agriculture and Forest Departments to cut the trees.
