Delhi Technological University, formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), is known for its state-of-the-art infrastructure, beautiful surroundings, friendly environment and of course, academics.
The college has a pretty good infrastructure for multiple departments. The library is fully air-conditioned with the availability of every book. Labs are really good. Wi-Fi connection is available in every department. Sports equipment and rooms and grounds were fully available at any time of the day. Food was really reasonable and tasty enough at the canteen. From samosa chain to pizza, one can get everything at canteen or Amul shop or Nescafe Cafeteria or even the home-like food at Night Canteen.
Being a day-scholar, I can only say that the hostel rooms were fine enough with proper security and entries maintained. Most of the hostels had a great mess and food to eat.
Teachers are highly qualified and experienced. They have tons of research papers on their name and some have patents too and they try their best to make a student understand the course to the maximum using all sort of practical knowledge and giving them live assignments and try to expose them to more of practical work. The course curriculum is relevant and makes the students industry ready already. The lab facility is quite good which makes it better for students to learn the subjects.
Cultural fest-Engifest, Tech Fest, Literary Fest, Sports Fest. All the mentioned fest occurs at a grand level every year. One of the most decorative and enjoyable fests in all the Delhi-NCR region.
The college has both technical and non technical societies which anyone is free to join. These societies help in boosting your overall confidence along with improving your personality and knowledge. There were around 85 societies/clubs in DTU. DTU includes many societies like Pratibimb, NSS, Ecell, IEEE, SAE, MUN CSI, IET. For dramatics, go to Pratibimb, for music, Madhurima.
Student’s Alumni Cell (SAC) of DTU, is a student body that was formed with the aim to brigde the gap between the alumni and current students/University.This body will be responsible for conduction of all the events related to alumni and students in the University. It will also act as the Alma mater’s representative for the alumni that will be available to help them out for any kind of academic/administrative work in the University.
Hostel and Mess Facility
Each hostel is provided with facilities of :
Solar water geysers, T.V. with cable connection, Table Tennis, Carom, Chess, Badminton Court, Gymnasium & Reading Room, LAN.
Hostel Messes are run in two groups. One group is run by private contractor and another is cooperative venture which is run on a “No Profit No Loss” basis.
The residents are expected to maintain proper decorum in the Dinning Hall. Shouting and sitting on the mess table is strictly prohibited, if any one is found doing so he/she shall be fined Rs. 100 to Rs. 1000 depending on the severity of offence.
The Mess Secretary from the hostel will normally be elected / nominated and he/ she and his /her team will look after the quality of the food provided and ensure hygiene in the mess.
Food will not be served outside the dining hall for students. However, in case of illness, students may be served “SICK DIET” in their rooms with prior permission of the Warden.
Library System consists of a Central Library and 15 departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute. All students, faculty members and employees of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities on taking library membership. The Library, besides having a huge collection of books on engineering, science and humanities offers library services through its various divisions.
Physical education & sports play vital role in achieving the aims and objectives of Education. The students of DTU are provided with excellent facilities and encouraged to take part in the tournaments held in and around N.C.R. Delhi, , particulars, engineering institutions.
DTU is having 450 m. track, ground for Football, Hockey, Cricket, two courts for Volely ball, two courts for basketball, three courts for Tennis Iand five courts for Badminton, Table Tennis rooms, Chess Rooms, Carrom Rooms and Gyms are also available in the each hostel of the college campus.
With the view to recognize upcoming talented sportsman and sports woman in the college, the Sports Council organizes sports festival ARENA. The festival witnesses the large participation of boys and girls which included atheletics, badminston, table tennis, basketball, carrom, chess, cricket, tennis and volleyball. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners.
