What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is India’s ancient medical science.’ Ayur’ means ‘Life’ and ‘Veda’ means ‘Knowledge’. So Ayurveda means, “Knowledge Of Life”. Ayurveda was originated from our ancient Vedic texts and its principals are timeless. Our classical Ayurvedic texts are thousands of years old and Ayurveda’s roots can be found in Tibetan, Chinese & Greek Medicine. Ayurveda believes that mind and body are inextricably connected. Nowadays, Ayurveda is not only limited to India but also being practised in other parts of the world like USA, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, etc.

Ayurveda incorporates all the aspects of life whether physical, psychological, spiritual and social. According to our sacred texts, there are three kinds of doshas, Vatta, Pitta & Kapha. They are based on the concept of 5 basic elements: Ether, Air, Water, Fire & Earth. Their unique combination determines our body composition and ‘Prakriti.’ The three doshas vary accordingly climate, age, and many other factors.

Ayurveda says, if you’re eating the right food the right way, you don’t need medicines at all. To cleanse the whole system internally, Ayurveda recommends everyone for at least one Panchkarma Detoxification Treatment in one year. It is essential for the purification of the body as well as mind.
